Area police officers and law enforcement professionals joined our high school students to share their stories about becoming officers, answer questions, and build positive connections with students in a relaxed setting.
Afterward, everyone gathered in the gym to honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day. We were honored to welcome Bebezhigooganzhiins Negamojig – The Little Horse Singers, and Mr. Dold read Cloquet Public Schools’ recently adopted Land Acknowledgment.
It was a meaningful morning of conversation, connection, culture, and community. 💜💛

Students in Ms. Gagner’s Science Class at Cloquet Middle School have been learning about the life cycle of monarch butterflies and the ecosystems they depend on!
As part of their studies, students conducted a mini-investigation exploring how salt affects milkweed plants and whether it impacts the length and mass of monarch caterpillars.
This hands-on learning experience helped students make real-world connections between science and the environment, including how road salt used during Minnesota winters can impact monarch habitats.

As school counselors, we work with students one-on-one to help them navigate middle school expectations, friendships, and the everyday challenges that come with growing up.
We also offer small groups where students can build skills and find support around topics such as grief, anxiety, friendships, and family changes. In addition, we spend time in classrooms teaching social-emotional and life skills that help students succeed both in and out of school.
Most importantly, we are here as a resource for families too, partnering together to support student growth, well-being, and success.

Washington students are being recognized for making positive choices, showing respect, including others, and doing their best! Students caught showing Purple Pride receive a special slip, and every Friday, each classroom draws a winner for a prize and a spot in the weekly Purple Pride photo.
We can’t wait to watch our Purple Pride Wall of Fame fill up throughout the year!

🏃♀️ Cloquet River Run is coming up!
Join us on October 10th for a fun, family-friendly morning supporting Churchill Elementary!
👟 1 Mile Run/Walk: 9:00 a.m.
🏃 5K Run/Walk: 9:30 a.m.
Proceeds help support wellness and educational programs for Churchill students, including playground equipment, healthy snacks, technology, and more!
Students will also get a chance to practice during the school practice race on October 1st!

Cloquet High School is bringing the magic of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods to life this fall! The story cleverly intertwines classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk to show us what really happens after "happily ever after."
The cast and crew are hard at work, practicing every single night to get every note and scene just right for opening night!

🌿 Learning Through Culture & Connection
AIE students from CAAEP went and picked sage. This is the third year that we have harvested our own sage. It is rewarding to watch students put their tobacco out and gather sacred medicines in a good way. Miigwech to Giniw, Cara & Bry for being there in the drizzling cold with them.
Our students are reading, writing, problem-solving, and building new skills together each day. We love seeing these curious minds hard at work and excited to learn!
Did you know Churchill Elementary has a weekly Book Award Program? 💜 Students are nominated by teachers for showing respect, kindness, and a strong work ethic. Award recipients earn a special token to choose a book from Churchill’s book vending machine!
We love celebrating our students for the positive choices they make every day—and sending them home with a new book to enjoy!

Today was a BIG day at Cloquet Public Schools — our Kindergarten and Early 5’s Lumberjacks officially started their school year! 🎒✏️
There were lots of smiles, new friends, exploring classrooms, playing, learning routines, and settling into a brand-new adventure.
We are so excited to have our littlest Lumberjacks here and can’t wait to watch them learn, grow, and shine throughout the year!
