Student Absences continue to rise due to illnesses including diagnosis of Influenza, Influenza-like illness, Strep Throat, as well as other general coughs and colds.
Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, headache, fatigue, body aches, a few with vomiting and diarrhea.
Influenza and other viral illness spread rapidly. Please be reminded to keep your child home when they are not feeling well - this prevents others from getting sick and helps your child get well sooner. A fever over 100.0 with a cough or sore throat is considered “Influenza-like illness”. As with all illness, your child is required to stay home until fever free for 24 hours without a fever reducer.
Please practice good hand hygiene by frequently washing hands, covering coughs with elbow or tissue, stay home when you or your child is ill, do not share personal items (chapstick, water bottles, eating utensils, etc) and clean surfaces frequently.
Lastly, because we are asked by the Minnesota Department of Health to report certain illness symptoms (no names are reported), please be as specific as you feel comfortable when calling your child in ill.
If you have any questions, please call your child's health office at any time.
