Welcome back for the 2026-2027 school year! We’re looking forward to a wonderful year to come and excited that you’ve chosen to join us. We have a few important updates to share. First, we are making a transition in our transportation provider for the school district. Palmer Bus Service will provide for the district’s student transportation needs. Palmer has its roots in small town Minnesota, but has grown to be a larger regional provider  and serves many school districts across the state. They bring a smaller community approach with the support of a larger organization. We are looking forward to a long and successful relationship with Palmer Bus Service.  Second, we are relocating our alternative high school to a wing of our high school facility. This move creates access to a wider range of elective course options for the students from across the region who participate in our alternative program. The move also helped to create space for Northern Lights Academy, a regional special education program, which provides important services to a number of students. The Northern Lights Academy program will now be housed in one location to better serve the students who attend.

If you’re new to the region or considering school systems, Cloquet Public Schools provides an excellent option with supportive staff and a comprehensive range of programs and activities. We have a long-standing slogan in our district, “Cloquet Schools, where caring for students is not just an idea, it’s tradition”. We are nicely sized to provide a small-town feel with the amenities and courses of a larger district. We offer small class sizes in our elementary levels and focus on providing a strong foundation to learning for our youngest students. For our older students, we prioritize a wide range of courses with many college credit-bearing classes and excellent elective options. We recently made significant investments in our auditorium to create a state-of-the-art environment for the fine arts and renovated our career and technical education spaces to provide students with a wonderful place to gain skills to enter the workforce and trades. We’ve made recent upgrades to our facilities supporting extracurricular activities. We completed the renovation of an artificial turf field for football, lacrosse and soccer complete with a new scoreboard, videoboard and sound system. We resurfaced our track and added new areas for students who participate in discuss and shotput. We also accomplished the expansion of our tennis courts for our boys' and girls' teams. Most recently, we’ve updated our workout and weightlifting facilities to support student wellness and provide spaces for our athletes to effectively train. These renovated facilities also see regular use in our physical education programming. As a district, we provide a wide range of extracurricular activities in both sports and the arts for students to enjoy!

If you’re interested in learning more about our schools, we recommend reaching out to a specific school building or the district office to learn more. We’d be happy to answer your questions and share more about the many great options and opportunities our schools provide. Our schools are a wonderful place for children to learn and grow!
