Adults with Disabilities
Adults With Disabilities (AWD)
The Adults With Disabilities (AWD) program began in the mid 1980’s. It was started thanks to very proactive parents who learned about funding available for programming to be offered by Community Education. These dedicated parents lobbied for a special program to meet the needs of their young adult children. They wanted classes that taught daily living skills, exercise classes that promoted good health, and social activities to offer enrichment and build friendships.
The Adults With Disabilities Program serves individuals 18 and older. Enjoy fun activities like movie and pizza trips, bowling, Bingo nights, and much more! See our quarterly brochure for more details. Learn valuable skills in our Cooking class or have fun working out with friends during our Exercise class. All people with disabilities are welcome to attend our program activities.
